My wife and I are coming to Queenstown New Zealand Next Winter, but we want to know where we can build a snowman. Will there be enough snow on the ground. Do we have to travel far to get alot of snow. We'll be coming in July 07. I just want Kiwi snow and heaps of it. Will we get it in Queenstown ? Tourism advise please !!!!

Any place is a good place for a snowman in Queenstown, but you may not get enough snow in the town itself. On the other hand, you could take the cable car up the mountain from the town - convenient and beautiful, and there should be snow up there that time of year. Have fun.

From what I hear locals say whenever I'm skiing in New Zealand, all ski resort villages in New Zealand are below the snow line.

You have to take buses or drive up the mountain to get to the snow.

Having said that, there have been occasions where it will snow in
the town itself, but every time I've been to Queenstown in the winter there has never been snow in the town centre. I think it's not very common for it to snow at the bottom of the mountain, but it has happened before.

i e-mailed my old b/f who had workstudy in Queenstown 4 a year and doesn't recall snow at all, much less enough 4 snowmen. i also just e-mailed a cyberfriend who lives in Queenstown, and he says the same thing.

Maybe ice-cream men? alittle more expensive, but tastier. In the meantime, I will pray for an ice-age to hit Queenstown 4 the duration of you trip, if it means that much 2 u

Whether or not Frosty can join you, even 4 a little while, i wish you the trip of a lifetime!

Being from Upper Michigan where we have 2 seasons, Winter and July 17th, I wish I could send u a truckload or 2! You 2 sound like a couple of fun, romantic snowangels. Have a lovely time.

I've built many snowmen and snow-ladies in my years. the most fun on though was back in the early 70's when Houston actually got enough snow on the ground to make a small one by using the snow from all the neighbors yards. The local news had a car out driving around taking pictures and he happened to see our poor little snow-lady, she made it on the news and by morning the next day was nothing more than a puddle.

You can probably build one up in the mountains. That's what I suggest. Haha! I love New Zealand and I know thsi stuff. There's tons of snow out in their mountains. ^_^
