NO, don't suck in your cheeks?! You aint Cher or Joan Rivers! You need to smile with your mouth open and then follow the contours of your cheeks in an upward sweeping motion!
Men will love you even more and the women will be envious of you!!!!

no....
smile and apply the blush onto the apples of your cheeks (have an upward stroke)
"suck in their cheeks" and "sweep a band of color beneath your cheekbones" is when you want to make your cheek more defined
(i use a little bit of bronzer instead of blush to do this)

That's how they always used to tell us to do it to "highlight" cheekbones - a sweep of colour under the bone and a dusting of light colour on top of the bone to really accent the highlight.
These days I think you can wear it however you like and they use rosy colours to make the cheeks look healthy - they say find the peak of your cheekbone, put your finger there and then dust colour in that spot.
I like to use a brownish blush and I use it on my eyelids, cheeks (yes I still suck them in and sweep) and I also use it on my temples lightly to add dimension to my face...hmmmm not sure if a make-up artist would say it was the ting to do but have been doing it since my modelling days of old and I still pull blokes ;)

The new look is applying blush to the apples of your cheeks. Smile and apply to the round part near your nose. Sweep towards your ears for a gradient look. Stop vertically below the end of your eyebrow.
If you want a contoured look, add bronzer where the blush stops to your temple and up to the edges of your forehead.

Isn't it the other way around, girl? You have to smile and put blush on the apples of your cheeks so it'll look natural. Sucking your cheeks and putting blush will make your cheeks look hollow.

RIckys Wife: Suck cheeks in and right on your cheek bone and middle of face and blend well. Or smile and put on the ball of the cheek bone and blend towards ear. Good Luck.

you are supposed to smile and apply a light layer of blush to the apples of your cheeks, that gives you a healhy "this is where the sun hit me" look, as well as on your nose, and forehead-lightly! think of where the sun hits you on your face and you are supposed to apply it there but to give you a natural rosy look!
