I went to work in Afghanistan for a year and a half and it was very interesting. It was more like visiting another planet then another country. Everything was just sooo different. Not just the culture but the landscape looks like the moon or something. The culture is more like going back in time 3000 years. I mean it. In the villiages it actually looks like ancient Egypt 3000 years ago. They are living in adobe houses and have animals standing around and no electricity or running water. I got to go to some villiages with the military and give toys to children and it was so amazing to see how little they have and how excited they get by these little stuffed animals. I have to say that living there was probably the greatest experience of my life.

Tough question! If you're talking developed cities, I'd go for either New York, Vienna or Las Vegas. If you mean by saying 'interesting' esoteric, I'd have to go with Rio de Janeiro or Cartegena, Colombia. Beauty, access to culture and an array of things to do at different times of the day are crucial to keep my interest piqued, such as diving, surfing, skydiving, bar-hopping or eco-tourism...so there you have it!
