how is a college degree a big deal,if alot of ppl have them?

people say go to college and stuff,that u will make more money
but i want 2 be a cop,and i dont have 2 got 2 college.
my point is a bundle of ppl have a degree,if alot of ppl have it,how is it special.

there's also a lot of people who don't have it...plus degrees are what some high top jobs require so that's why it's special...it tells the employer that you have done schooling & have knowledge in a certain subject...or else they wouldn't know unless they test you extensively to find out what you do know...good luck on being a cop! we need more of you good guys!

Because so many people have one makes those who don't the odd ones out and less likely to be desirable by and employer, for those whom are seeking particular jobs. A high school education just isn't enough anymore. HOWEVER! Did you know that only about 25% on the US population has a college degree?
I live in El Paso, and to become a police officer here, you have to have the equivilant of 1 year of college under your belt. Also, you won't be able to make over a certain rank and/or paygrade if you don't have a degree. GOOD LUCK!

If you go to college, you will drink beer, sleep with hot women, and have the time of your life. Or you can be a cop and miss out on the parties, getting away from the parents, and then you do some homework. People that don't want to go to college problably need it the most. Dude, go to college, bang some hot (yet stupid) freshmen, drink too much, and rock on with your bad self. College isn't easy, but if you put the work in, the benefits are great. Many more doors are opened for you than a cop, that's for sure. Get your degree...from a business standpoint it doesn't hurt, and then you get to say you banged a lot of chicks and had a blast in college. Dude, you gotta go.

From what I've heard (unsure if the statistic is accurate), only 25% of the adult population have college degrees. So that means if you have one, you already have a higher education than 75% of people. Also, doing the EXACT SAME JOB as someone with say, only a high school diploma, you will make much more money with a college degree.

If you ever want to move up in the force, and make more money, then you will almost have to have a degree. People with a college education are more likely to make more money throughout their lives. Also, if you get a degree in criminal justice, and ever get burned out on the police force, then you can use that degree in another area...like being a parole officer for example. Don't think that you'll never get burned out, a lot of people want to change their careers later in life.

Going to college or university does not guarantee you will make a lot of money once you begin working.

College and university is a place where you can share ideas with others, learn new things, experience new ways of living, of philosophy and music. It is a continuation of your general education yet puts you closer to the subjects you are most interested in.

And by going to college you have a chance to grow up and mature and learn respect.

If you want to go into law enforcement, by going to college and university you will receive more opportunities of advancement in your profession. You can start as a patrolman and end your days as one or after a few extra years of education, you can try for higher jobs, and higher salaries.
