Flower Horn is a South American Cichlid family (under the genus Cichlasoma) and have originated from selective cross breeding. This beautiful hybrid is thought to be cross-breed between Cichlasoma Trimaculatus, Cichlasoma Festae and Jingang Blood Parrot.

Just like other SA Cichlid it is know to its temper and will not co-exist with other tank mates. With regards to aquarium size, Flower Horns may grow up to approximately12 inches in length depending on the breed, try to have at least 4 feet (length) by 2 feet (width). Just remember the rule: an inch of fish body (excluding fins) per gallon of water.

Also, I would like to emphasized that the more bigger the aquarium, the less you have to worry about water conditions, and less expertise is required to maintain it. Just remember to have a good filtration ( I recomend a canister filter than an undergravel filter since cichlids are known to dig the sand!)
