He can't be subsituted because he has been sent off, so another player has to be subsituted so as the number two goalie can come on. If the team has already used up all their subs, then it is a different matter, here a player on the team(who is not a goalie) must go in goal.

yes that has happened in a game Real madrid was playing. I can't recall who they were playing but the goalkeeper got a red card for knocking down the player rather hard. They had to take out a player from their team to switch with another goalkeeper.

if a goalkeeper gets a red card, a subsitution for the reserve goalkeeper has to be made & one of the outfield players must make way for the substitution.

No game can start or continue without a goalkeeper.

If the goalkeeper is sent off, an outfield player is substituted to make way for the reserve goal-keeper.

If a team has used up all its allocated substituted players, then an outfield player must take over in goal.

if there are no more substitutes the game will go on without a goalkeeper but instead a midfielder will defend the goal

Good question.
A substitution has to be made to get a back up goal keeper in.

I watched a game where the coach got sent off!
It was crazy
