Slavery is/was an important tool of the capitalist system. It guaranteed maximum profits for the bosses. Nowadays we have things called Trade Unions, thank goodness!

Well I think that in some ways their are similar.
With slavery, people were bought and sold whipped and forced to do labor under inhumane circumstances. How ever in capitalist society people are free& allowed to work and are payed for the labor. But like it was then & is now the rich are getting richer off the backs of the poor. Who scape by in low paying jobs.

That's like comparing apples and oranges, because capitalism is an entire ECONOMIC system unto itself, while slavery could be PART OF capitalism or ANY OTHER economic system.

Capitalism is a highly polished, dignified, civil, politically correct incarnation of slavery. But it is eventually enforced in the same way - by force - only now the police are the enforcers of the rules of the owners of K and L (capital and labor). Think about it. Can you actually "opt-out" of it? Absolutely not.

Capitalism pays a little better, or at least it used to.

With capitalism you can quit any job you don't care for. If you were a slave, you could not. (One point that I would like to bring up is that the slaves never had to pay taxes! We pay even if we leave one job to take another.) So in one way, we are slaves to the G'ovt. But in return we supposedly get Medicare, social security, etc. (HA!)

As a slave you have the choice to work or be hanged.
As a worker in a capitalistic society you have the choice to work
or being hanged out to dry.
