i just heard her song " simple anc clean" on kingdom hearts and that made me decide to purchase her CD on amazon.com
her american debut album" exodus 01" is awesome.
why no one in the us know her??

a lot of people know her.... in japan, and actually i think she has quite a few fans in the US. however j-pop isnt in high demand here, so she's not as popular as we would like her to be... try listenin to first love.. its like one of my favorite songs...

I love Utada. Just to warn you Exodus is a good cd, but kinda pales in comparison to her japanese stuff. It dosn't make all that much sense being that she speaks english better than se speaks japanese, (she lived in New York until high school) but it is still pretty good.

I am one of the few know not only knows, but LOVES her work. Also, you have her name backwards. It's Utada Hikaru. I especially like her work on Kingdom Hearts to with "Sanctuary". Rock on!

Yep - I've heard a bit of her stuff and I like it too.
I don't think much of her stuff has been released in the States or the UK so not many people have heard of her yet.
The "wikipedia" link I think is good for background on her, and the "senris" link has some audio clips.
