well, today i heard of this software in popular science magazine called "ipodlinux" so i downloaded it cuz it looked pretty good. The software is supposed to be added into my ipod. I tried installing it a few times, but it didnt work. After the first time, i checked my ipod, and it was still working perfecty. But a few hours later, when i tried to listen to my ipod, it didnt even open AT ALL. WAS THERE LIKE A VIRUS OR SUMTIN IN THE SOFTWARE? How do I fix this. I cant uninstall the software because it cant even locate my IPOD!

NOTE* My ipod is a fouth generation ipod.

Not sure what you mean by can't locate... do you mean it does not show up in My Computer? anyway, you can reset an IPOD which completely erases all contents and then you can restore it using the Apple software - back to factory settings. You will of course lose all of your music, but your IPOD will work.

and google it... you will find many different ways to erase your IPOD. most problems are software/firmware related and can be fixed.

ur best bet is to use the restore function in the ipod updater... downside: if ur computer doesnt have ur music ulll lose the music. So as long as u have all ur music on a computer ull be fine and the ipod will be as good as new

ya, i myself have a 4th gen and they kinda suck, the best/ only thing you can do is to take it to Apple or smash it open with a hammer, i've always wanted to know waht the inside of a iPod looks like. : )
