I wont turn the sub-pump on because it is not mine and the lanlord is always hooting about watch it now make sure it doesnt burn out and besides the water slides like a California mudd slide from behind my furnace to below the basement door and sits at the bottom of my basement stairs.
I need to find out if there are people out there who can give me some good contacts or can I look up rental rights for Ohio somewhere?????

You need to take your rent money down town and put it in escrow. the city will make your land lord fix this problem before they give them the money..your land lord had plenty of time to fix it..youre family will end up very sick from mold and any thing else living in that water...

once the landlord fixes the problem the city will come out and check it then the city will hand your land lord the money from escrow..

Im from ohio and this is what they will tell you to do, my uncle had a problem where the floor fell in, in front of his toilet and the land lord wouldnt fix it so they put their rent money in escrow and the very next day the landlord was out fixing the problem..

here is the laws for ohio scrow down to escrow..

There are 2 kinds of landlords. Those that take care of their property and those that don't. Sounds like you have the latter. They are more interested in getting their money every month then having to maintain their property. I would seriously look into moving. If they are telling you they wont even know if they are going to fix the problem until the 1rst of the month when your rent is due that tells me that you will give them the rent money and they will give you the bad news. Its hard to find a good landlord but you know what? Its hard to find good tenants too. If you give her the rent and she says she cant fix the problem tell them that you will be moving out when the month is up and if she doesn't fix it then you will have already given your notice.

if????look for a new place to live and save your rent for moving. she won't like it but you will have 15 days notice to pay the rent before she can kick you out which gives you time to see if she fixes it and stay or if you need to move on. you might lose your damage deposit but hey if the place is unfit to live do you really want to be there. the sump will help some but will not solve the problem. be the problem solver for yourself and move on to a new problem and promises, find a landlord who wants regular payments and takes care of the place well they are out there

The problem needs to be fixed ASAP. You may need to force your landlords hand into doing something. Consult with a J.P. or Paralegal to find your options.

Is there a tenancy tribunal you can ask for help? It sounds terribly irresponsible of the owner :(

OK

There is a pump in the basement toget rid of water ................. you won't switch it on ............... you say your family is getting sick because of the damp.

That's as much your fault as the landlords then.
