Diplomat cites U.S. 'stupidity' in Iraq
By HAMZA HENDAWI, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A senior U.S. diplomat said the United States had shown "arrogance" and "stupidity" in Iraq but was now ready to talk with any group except Al-Qaida in Iraq to facilitate national reconciliation.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America's war in Iraq.

"We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq," he said.

"We are open to dialogue because we all know that, at the end of the day, the solution to the hell and the killings in Iraq is linked to an effective Iraqi national reconciliation," he said.

The answer is Both.

But we are being made stupid, us Americans.

We are also being kept from information and the news is along the lines of " War! Bush did something great! War! Osama Evil! Bush Good!"

Since we are being made stupid, we are not getting as much news about ourselves as other countries get around us and as we'd notice if we just watched the neighborhood for a week, and we are not able to fight or care as much about things,... it's a downward spiral.

We are just getting worse.

The intelligence of the people that live around where I live has been dropping atleast 10 points every year for oh, I'd say,.. about 5 years. These were not very bright people to begin with, I have devolopementally delayed friends that could get 100% on things people around here wouldn't be able to pass at this point.

And these lovely people are our doctors and cooks.

They are the people that are supposed to tell people what to do when they are going to go homeless in less then 3 months,..too. You know what they do, they make people run circles and nothing is right.... NOTHING! The people that provide help, the system,... blah blah blah,.. this is getting off subject.

BOTH!

I agree, the question is quite flawed, especially based upon the news clip. The American populace has very little support in President Bush at the moment. To say that Americans feel as Bush does is putting words most Americans DO NOT want in their mouths.

So who is stupid? I say its the militants that feel that to unite their country, they need to destroy it. Anyone stupid enough to follow a mindless rhetoric like that should (and probably will) be shot.

This is not the first time. The US and the UK have caused a civil war and a dictatorship in Greece, and think that we didn't have different ethnic or religious groups (like Shiites and Sunites). So I am not so sure it was a "mistake" in Iraq.
To answer your initial question, whatever Bush is, the American people voted for him again, so they share the responsibility and the ... IQ.

The U.S. has lots of left-wing kooks in the state department. That's not news.

A left-wing bureaucrat opposes the war and thinks Bush sucks? That's not news. It's just the latest cover photo on the left-wing agenda. They're probably already busy fabricating tomorrow's "news."

It's the Bush administration who are the stupid ones.
Unfortunately when when people criticise the US's policies & government, they tend to say 'US', or 'Americia'. This sounds like they're criticising the American people as a whole. What they are criticising is the administration.

Ok, Mr. My way or the Highway, this is Yahoo! Answers, not FreeRepublic. True, the mindless leftist pigs really do expose themselves here, but that's just some unintellegence we have to deal with. Don't stoop down to thier level and DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT turn Yahoo! Answers into a political message board.
