Keep them well apart until the child has the chance to try to befriend the dog with adult support. Don't let the dogs go near the baby, the baby's things, the bedroom, anything. Sounds stupid, but make a fuss of both and make time for both and gradually put them together. Treat the dog, in some respects, like an older child. The dog tearing up a room wouldn't normally be stood for so why now? Tell it off and try the above. Good Luck!

There could be all sorts of reasons why the dogs tore up the new nursery.
Is the baby born yet? Ideally, your friend should prepare the dogs for the arrival of the baby before the baby is born.
The arrival of a new child will inevitably mean change for the dogs. The dogs won't get as much attention as before, there will be less walks etc. She should try to think of all the ways that the dogs life will change, and implement as many of these changes as possible BEFORE the baby is born. That way, the dogs won't see the baby as a reason for the change.
Get a tape of a baby crying and play it every so often. Quietly and for a short time at first, gradually building up the time and volume, so that the dogs are used to the noise the baby makes.
If the baby is already born, it's still not necessarily too late. Most dogs either know or can be taught to accept a new baby in the house and be protective of it as a vulnerable member of the household.
It might also be worth buying a DAP diffuser (DAP = dog appeasing pheromone). These should help calm your dog.
The library will be a good source of information. There's loads of books that have been written giving tips on that sort of thing.
Two things to remember above all:-
1) She should get advice from a professional dog behaviourist. Hopefully my tips will be helpful in the meantime, but professional advice should definitely be sought. The vet may well be able to recommend somebody.
2) No dog of ANY breed should be left UNSUPERVISED around children.

The best thing your friend can do It rehouse the dogs before they kill the baby!! If they have destroyed the nursery then It won't be long before they take a chance at the baby!! And you can't for every second of the day have your eyes on the dogs!! Avoid temptation and remove the dogs from the home!! Or if you perfer your dogs have the baby adopted. My choice would be get them dogs out NOW!

That just sounds like a very horrible accident waiting to happen. I don't know where you live, but here in England there have been quite a few cases of dogs mauling young children and one even killing a small baby. So I would advise your friend to find a new home for the dogs, atleast until the child is a bit older.

Get rid of the dogs. They will kill the baby. Of course they are jealous. They don't understand what is happening!
