A friend of mine went they stayed in Nice in france and got the train there, it cost at lot less. I have heard that these deals to go and sit it in the cafes are ok you get a good view but they charge extortionate rate for drinks.
I went to the silverstone grand prix a couple of years ago and got tickets on the uncovered bit of the pit straight, it was great TV right in front of me and got to see the grid line up.
It is a real experience seeing it for yourself and one not to be missed. The sounds are so different I thought that the cars were exploading when they came into the pit lane and geared down. You just dont get the same experience as when you are there.
If you get yourself off there ENJOY!

From an apartment in Monaco overlooking the race. That way you get the atmosphere, you can hear and feel the race its so close and yet you can have a tv/radio on for the commentary so you know whats happening round the other side. And after the race you'll be close enough to party with the crowds xx

if I could go to any grand prix it would be this one, just for the atmosphere. it seems the best place to watch from when you are there is a yacht or one of the hotels that overlook the road. [I have read that the prices of these rooms more than doubles for the weekend that the race is on and they are expensive enough as it is].
If you want to see the whole race then the best place is from your sofa in front of the tv. it takes you into the places that you don't see from a balcony or a yacht. i.e.
the pits and down on the grid talking to the drivers.

Actually the best place to view the race is on TV. The track is very twisty and its really hard to see more than a flash as the cars go by. At a couple of the corners where the cars slow you get a great feel of the speed and can really hear the sound of the gear shifts and the engine changes. but those locations are expensive seating and hard to come by

At home on the tele. You will get to see the whole race rather than just the small bit that takes place where you are on the track or the bit you can see from the balcony. Of course if you are on the balcony and there is also a T.V. nearby to watch, then you have it sussed!

i must agree with the setiments of the watch it at home on tv but if you want the whole live experience then the balcony of the mirabeau hotel give the longest view of the track and gives a great buffet during the race try page and moy for tickets if they are still running

If you are not a driver in the race, or a member of any team, then in front of your television.
At least all you have to do is avoid are the adverts!
