There are 4 major braches of Christianity. These are in order of appearance, the Eastern Orthodox, the Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Protestant. Beyond that there are other divisions within each, especially within the Protestant branch.
At the core they do all believe that Jesus was the Christ (the Messiah) the son of God and that he died and rose again. The early church came up with a creed that sums up the basic belief of Christianity in the Nicene Creed.
There are a couple of groups that most see as Protestant that are not technically Christian because they do not believe that Jesus was the son of God.
There are many different points of theological difference between all 4 of the major groups and within each division. There are different churches for different personality type, IMO. The real bottom line for a Christian is Love. As St. Paul says, …’the greatest is Love” and Jesus said that the law can be boiled down to 2 things to love God with all of your heart and all of your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Where you find Love, you will find the place that the spirit is strongest.
If we look at the teaching of the more fundmentalist churches they say that the bible is the only thing to look to for guidance. The Roman Catholic church says both the Bible and Holy Tradition (that is the oral traditions of the church). The Anglican church says the bible, holy tradition and reason. I am an Anglican, we are the church that says "God gave you a mind and He expects you to use it".
Hope this was helpful.

No, all Christian denominations do not hold the same core principles. The easiest way to learn each denominations core principles is to get a copy of its core beliefs, or canons. These will be a listing of the principles upon which each is founded.
Now about Mormons - we most certainly do not believe in marrying 14 year olds! If you want to know what real Mormons believe go to http://scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1

Of course NOT!
However, all have similar beliefs about the many subjects the Bible teaches which most times contradict the written scripture. Read your Bible and compare what each of them teach so you can answer yourself.

Yes. A little sad, right? They all read The Bible as their holy book, but they all interpert it differently. Very differently...sometimes.
