There is no question of the space being big or small. For , it is nothing in the first place . If something is big , then it is circumscribed by some boundaryand there is something samaller than that . if is is small also , it should be limited by boundaries and there should be something big also. if a thing has boundaries it is marked from something else and somethng else should necessarily be out side the boundary. No matter can exist without a boundary . onlya non-mater , a "NOTHING " alone can be without boundaries , or directions or depth or height or a beginning or a middle or an end . all matter in the universe need this "EMPTINESS " -the "VACUUM" -the "VOID "- "the "SPACE " for thier existence . But the space does not require anything for its existence . so space is a "BEING OF NON-BEING " a "Thing " of "NO- THING ".
It is the real infinity and absolutism. It is allpervading and it is the creator , sustainer and annihilator of allthe universe andall matteres and lives in it. It is 'MAYA" The miracle of nature .
It is as big as infinity!.That is God .
That is why the hindu theology depicts Lord krishna in blue colour and and balack colour - the deep space and the MAYA That is the Viswaroopa -the form of Universe , that Lord krishna showed to Arjuna at his requestto show him the real form of God . That is the being lord Krishna refers to his self as the "Being of Non-being "(,with no beginning , no middle and no end , no depth and no height) , that no eye can see in its totality !

1) Living things began to form only a long time after the big bang. The atoms that make up the matter you and I can feel and touch didn't even exist at the moment of the big bang. Everything formed as a natural process after the big bang. Everything including atoms, molecules, stars, planets, amino acids, enzymes, living cells, etc... 2) Life evolves to live in whatever environment it has to deal with. So humans live in an atmospheric pressure that exists on Earth because Earth is where we evolved. Life can and does exist in the vacuum of space, it just isn't human life. 3) Not all mutations result in the death of the subject, many mutations produce positive results. Consider why we have both wolves and dogs. Which would you rather have as a pet? Well, the reason dogs are good as pets is because they were bread to increase the mutations that produced docile animals rather than wild animals.

At present it is @ 15 billion light years.
The scientists of big bang theory believe that it is expanding and while doing so creates its' own space.
If thought ahead it will have no end.
I propose that Universe is expanding in a definite volume of space controlled by Absolute Zero temperature(0 k), which provides force for expansion; because 0 k means the vaccum. When the Universe will reach this belt the force causing expansion will vanish and The Universe will collapse for series of big bangs not only one.

outer space is another name for the universe.
the universe is about 150000000000 light years across.
each light year is 300000*60*60*24*365 kilometer, give or take few kilometers.
I believe you are much smaller, especially since you use a standard keyboard to type your questions.

Has to do with our brain to conceive the infinite. Think of a dogs they are incapable of counting or spelling due to their limited brain capacity So are we on a higher level. But still limited never the less. keep thinking you are on the right track. A atom is a universe, So what is a universe

Ya well did ya ever think that maybe we are tiny....Very tiny like germ size and not know it..... and that maybe outerspace is just a tiny part of something truly bigger.

It's the largest thing you can think of plus one!
We are small indeed. We only know how to mess up one planet at a time!

that's actually a great question . . .

edge of cosmic light is around 15 billion light years . . .

with expansion the distance across might be around 75 billion light years.
