Anyone who says differently is an idiot. Sometimes when a person goes through severe trauma (rape, war etc) the mind goes into "protection mode". This is called dissociation. It's a coping mechanism. I wouldn't actually call it "denial" as denial implicates an active attitude whereas in this case it happens automatically.

This is how many people live their whole lives. Most of us do some of this too, its called the unconscious mind..via Freud, but still believed to be true. Also called denial. Some people lie so much they believe their own lies.

Definitely for me. Sometimes the truth just hurts so badly that I try to lock it away and forlorn it as long as I can, but doing so sometimes comes back to bite me.
