The Declaration of Independence is the basis of the Constitution...these word were directed to King George...the reasons our Founders wanted a new country and what they envisioned as a future. It doesn't neccessarily mean that we could do it today...it would have roots in the original Declaration, but there is nothing in the Constitution that says we can depose our leaders if we don't like them. it would mean another Civil War and not all would be one the same side. The winners would be the ones to determine if these words were relevant...depends on who wins...the Constitution is the platform that settled the issues opened in the Declaration....it is law.

I think our country needs a major overhaul of everything to do with government but most people are to lazy to care.
Until you change, our public education, health care situation, social security predicament, have complete and utter campaign finance, not that pansy crap they passed a few years ago, can end corporate americas stranglehold on our own government and law system, the base of our economy and jobs, the United States will never be what is was intended to be.
How long can we be a super power with our kids getting dumber and sicker and fatter?
How long can this country keep going at the rate its going?

I think if people want to change anything they need to get up off their fat lazy butts and do something. Like voting would be a good start.People in this country love to complain but don't want to do any thing about it.The direction this counrty is going in makes me wanna puke.how many of our rights do they have to take away and freedoms impuned before the people of this country say enough?

I think it would be great if the Bush Administration would rule according to the Declaration instead of the way government is taking away more and more of our freedom every day and ruling our lives where they don't belong. Sounds like we need a new form of government...)(

I agree whole heartedly. I think you and some of the others responding to you miss the point about how the changes are to take place if they are needed. Legal means are available.

if reading that you get rilled up or get tears in you eyes you know you wear meant to be an American. We still have some fight in us I know we can be again what this country once stood for. hope for all people. I just hope to see it.
