For max security I would advise you to first fix a sheet of plywood (about 1/2 inch thick ) the same size as the tv to the wall. You can put several fixings through this into the studs behind the plasterboard or using maybe 20 plasterboard fixings. This will spread the load over the wall. You can then mount the fixing brackets where they belong on the plywood. I often use this method to hang radiators on problem walls with 100% success.
The plywood can be decorated to match the wall and even made a couple of inches smaller to hide it.

I would locate the stus and mount 2 boards running horizontally. Use a couple of 2 x 6's, that way you will have strength and a space between the back of the TV and the wall. I would lag bolt the 2 x 6's into the studs with at least a 3'' lag, 4 would be better. Put a large flat washer (biger is better) so the board will stay nice and tight. You can use a 1/4 or 5/16 lag. You won't be able to see the 2 x 6's once the TV is up.

To answer your question, yes 'I' could but I dont know if you could.! If its decent plasterboard and you can also get 4 or 6 good fixings to at least two studs there should be no problem. You will not have a pull out load but a shear load which the plasterboard will share with the studs. If you have to fix one end to the plasterboard use heavy gravity toggles....http://www.fischer.co.uk/befestigung/index.html

I fitted some expensive heavy speakers 2 years ago using specialised plasterboard fixings, still up. As long as wall is not damp should be ok. Alternatively find the joists, normally about 21" apart.

you must screw in to the stud work behind the plasterboard if the wall you are fixing to is a external or surporting wall you will find that it has block work behind it which would make it easer just rawplugs and the bolts but if you use raw bolts for plasterboard the you will find that the tv will fall down

Yes it can, best thing to do is locate the joists in the wall that you want to hang on and put your anchors in there, failing that and depending on the hanging fittings you can get special plasterboard 'rawl plugs' which give an extra stong anchor, you get them at any diy store.

Of course you can, just make sure it is anchored back to solid wall and that your plasterboard wall has been correctly installed and anchored back to a solid base at each point.

It's all about finding the studs man. If your studfinder can pick up the wood behind the plaster, your golden. Another tip....predrill slowly with a new sharp bit. If you go trying to drive nails or something silly like that into plaster your going to be repairing some baseball size holes.

They make wall mounts for these big Tvs but they need to be mounted to the studs in the wall. You can buy a stud finder at any lumber store to locate the studs and there should be mounting instructions with the wall mount kit.
