I firmly believe that 200 grammes of chocolate a week is not too much, and yes, when somebody challenges that and says that it's too much, I feel mighty threatened.
Because what if people'd start listening to this raving nutter and it somehow got turned into a law that you can't have more than, say, 50 g. a week? Then I'd be SCREWED!

No. Only I can benefit from a challenge to what I believe in, be it religious, moral, academic, etc... If I take up that challenge and find it to be valid and my belief is wrong, then it is my responsiblity to myself to change it, or else I'm only lying to myself. If I find the challenge false and that it was based on an invalid argument, then I am that much stronger in my belief, and can now walk away feeling confident that I am on the right path.

In my experience, the people most violent and obnoxious about their beliefs are those who are afraid to question and think about them, since they think that they'd stop believing. Instead, they follow their beliefs like sheep without a shephard, blindly into whatever disaster they might lead to.

Besides, I'm Muslim; if I felt threatened every time my faith was questioned, I'd be living under a rock.

Broad question.. Moral, ethical , religiious beliefs?

Nope.. I do not feel challenged.. EVERYONE is entitles to their own beliefs.. Even if I personally think they are wrong.

Conflict could come if their beliefs affect my life in a negative way. I would then look to a hopefully peaceful resolution.

But if that is not possible then I will stand firmly by mine.

I have a hard time understanding how anyone can feel threatened by anything other than something like physical violence.
I Personally know people who are very timid and do not express opinions or think they should not etc.. frankly I think its our differencecs that make it all interesting and fun!

Good Luck

I guarentee everyone who answered no is not being 100% truthful. Have not anyone here get angry when someone calls your beleif a negative name or doesn't support your political view, or the best one where someone puts you down for whatever reason, has not one here not tried to justify their thoughts on something.

I cannot honestly say no, but can also honestly say yes.

We all go through it everyday.

If you even think of a negative thought of someone, then that means their way of doing things, you do not agree with, so you become negative in thought and emotion, it doesn't have to be visual to others.

Like someone bumping into you without an apology.

I can say no 95% of the time but there are actions of others that i do not agree with 5% of the time. If somebody bumps me and doesn't apologise or at lest show an action to say opps, i don't get upset anymore. It is just who that person is.

p.s. if after reading the first line of this comment you reacted then i proved my point. A reaction is even in thought.

nope. because i like a challenge... thats what ended me up finding the religion that is right for me.... (however.. not just religious beliefs are challenged...) but it helps me evaluate what i believe, and why i believe it. discussions on different beliefs help you see others points of view, and why they do things certain ways, or act certain ways, etc. besides.. everyone is entitled to their own beliefs! whats right for me might not be right for them. to each his own!

NO, I just roll my eyes and thumb my nose at them, mentally of course. On the outside, I tilt my head slightly and pretend to listen. If it gets REALLY bad, and they get rude about it, well then i may do a time out referee hand signal thing and say I've heard enough.

No, I find it as a time to share intellectual insight (I may be able to make some one look stupid with the possibility of learning a lil something myself).

I think if you do, it demonstrates that you do not really believe very strongly in whatever it is that you believe in after all, for one who is secure in his beliefs cares not what others think.
