does it have something to do with their mothers listening to Streisand and Elton John during their pregnancy?

I don't think gay people are born that way. I think it is trauma in the upbringing. But I'm no expert. Just an opinion.

Surely you are not suggesting that those that are homosexual would choose to be beaten, reviled, belittled, hated, persecuted and generally insulted and abused.

I think that is not the same as being a bigot, after all that is pure choice. Usually bigotry is from ignorant people, they don't know any better and just don't understand, this us usually mixed with a little fear about the unknown or fear of themselves.

A little education will always defeat fear. Now granted, homosexuality is not my cup of tea. I am heterosexual (straight). That I am straight is something that most gay people don't understand, but, they (for the most part) accept it.

Note: it has nothing to do with what the mothers did during their pregnancies. That question is akin to an number of 'redneck' questions that could be asked, But, won't be.

People are simply born the way they are and there is no explanation. Two children are born to the same parents. Both raised the same way in the same environment. One becomes gay and the other is straight. Seems to me that sexual orientation is part of being born.

For the girl that said God made Adam and Even not Adam and Steve.
First that phrase is played out.
God made satan what’s your point?

Contrary to what a lot of Christians believe God knows what he is doing.

Yeah he did make Adam and Eve to procreate, but studies have shown that as a population grows so does the number of Homosexuals. Let’s stop to think that hey maybe God does know what he’s doing in population control.

Let God do his job. By you saying that gay people are not born gay, your telling God that he made a mistake.

LOL, this is a joke question! right?
what if ? gays can be manipulated by their DNA...
I tend to believe the Programming and environmental issues behind straight people becoming Gay theory. I heard a story of a very effeminate man who was raised by his mother and a house full of females. whereas the story of Pavlovs dog seems to define how the mind can indeed be programmed.
But there is choice also. If a man cannot be sexxually satisfied by normal straight sex and enjoys Sodomy instead! then how much further is the choice to get satisfaction the othe way?
Choice and environment influence a persons lifestyle choice more than anything. but altered DNA can influence the temptation as well.

I don't know where I heard this from exactly but I heard there might be a gay gene and it's passed on through the male chromosome or whatever.

That's what I heard anyway. So it's that is true than it's all a gamble like all DNA you inherit from your parents how you'll turn out.

How are people born straight? Why ask questions like this, and expect a serious answer. What does music have to do with being gay, or straight? Are you gay? LOL :O

This question gets asked every day and I'm sick of answering it.

A human foetus is created with 23 pairs of chromosomes (24 if you have Down Syndrome) . On the 19th pair of chromosomes, sexual orientation is determined.
