if you boil down 3% h2o2 (hyrogen peroxide) down to 1/10 of the amount you can get a 30% consentration.

How much must be boiled out if i have 6% Hydrogen peroxide

Use the dilution formula
m1v1 = m2v2 (1% = 0.01)
(0.03)v1 = (0.30)v2
Since 1/10 v1 = v2
(0.03)v1 = (1/10)v1 (0.30)
v1 = 1

(0.03)(1) = (0.06) (v2)
0.03 = 0.06 v2
v2 = 0.50

So you need to get rid of half the amount to concentrate it to 6%.

To 2 post below this: Solid nitrogen tetroxide is rocket fuel acutally. I only know this since they make the stuff not too far from where i live.

In thoery yes, but unforntally H2O2 is a very link bond and any heating of it will destory it, or worse cause an expolsion. However if you were going to try and concentrate it you can try by using a very high power vaccum power and linking it up to a rotary evovapour (sp) and lowering the boiling pt. of the chemicals involved but I still don't know if this would work as I don't know the boiling pt of hydrogen peroxide off by hand.

If I had to guess...id say boil it to 1/5 of its amount. Id be careful with boiling h2o2. Its pretty nasty stuff at that high of a concentration. Make sure you use a fume hood or at least do it outside. It REALLY can burn your lungs if you inhale the vapors. The stuff in stores is only 3% and look what it does to cuts. Imagine 30%?

The volumetric concentration factor is equal to 30/6 = 5
So 80 percent of the volume has to be boiled out.

Be carefull h2o2 is rocket fuel you know the big orange tank on the shuttle. Playing with that stuff can get you into a lot of trouble and should only be handled by a trained chemist!
