I do not use drugs. However, I do feel that they should legalize pot and collect the taxes on it. The truth is that pot could help a lot of people with certian medical problems. It would be a win win solution. If it becomes legal is will stop some of the criminal element and we could control who actually gets it they would have to have idenification to sell it to only people 21 years old and up. We could collect the taxes and reduce the country's outstanding debt. Why should our country not make the money instead of the dope dealers. so as you see it would be a win win situation.

I have always been pro-legalization.
I used to use drugs recreationally but have not done so in years...
Thanks to 12 step recovery.

I still support legalization because

a) alcohol is legal and so are prescriptions that can be far more dangerous.

b) these drugs could be made safer for human consumption if they were legalized and monitored.

c) the legalized drugs could be taxed and then we could pull our country out of debt.

d) it would put criminal dealers out of business - making the streets safer.

e) The War on Drugs is a sham - it is just an opportunity for the government to pry into our private lives and further opress the minorities in this country.... Every country that has legalized marijuana and opiates has half of the rate of abuse.... we have severe addicts in this country, the likes of which are caused by living in a repressive environment shrouded in denial and secrecy.

You can quote me on that.

Medicinal, for one drug, like pot. However, I'll give you a sample case based on my life:
I was raised on drugs, by people on-drugs, and babysitters on-drugs. I graduated 1980, and walked across the stage to get my diploma frying on acid. The strangest thing about this, is that I was a jock, too. Our whole class was stoned, and fried, and drunk all the time. By the time I was 30, most of my grad. class had grown-up and left their drug days behind. Actually, all of them except me. I've met a few others like me, who, also, never could leave the addictions. My body and brain doesn't really know anything else; and on-drugs is actually normal, for me. I believe, I should be able to be clinically diagnosed by a physician, as to be compulsively-addicted and 'reliant' on certain things. For instance, 'meth' has been introduced into my system everyday, for 25 years. You wouldn't know it to look at me, though. I eat and sleep and work everyday. I stay fit, and stopped 'tweaking' years ago. Without meth, though, I can't leave the couch. The poisons I'm putting into my body are so carcinogenic, or otherwise highly-pollutant that, it seems to me, that any doctor who knew my situation would deem it appropriate to prescribe for me, some cleaner, legal stimulant that would help produce the seratonins my body has learned to no-longer produce. I'm sure 99% of the world would find this (and me) a crock of sh@#. "Ever heard of coffee?", etc.
I expect that reaction and I expect them not to be able to relate to this. I'm so highly addictive that I literally have never been able to stop giving stimulous to all the voids, that must be present. I've given up any hope of being helped, but I hope someday society sees that drug addiction is sometimes a never-ending fall down an endless cliff for 1 or 2% of us.
p.s. Gambling, has been the most destructive of all my addictions. It's legal, and I actually asked them to ban me, and they refused. If anything should be illegal, it should be Indian casinos that openly watch good citizens gamble their life savings away, day after day; all in the name of Indian self-reliance. They're far more destructive to society, than hippees growing some herb.

the reasons are more than obvious. nothing was learned from prohibition. if they had legalized the ganja herb, most would have gone no further. you wanted a buzz, there was no smoke, but we have other stuff thats much better. ive been asked why the need for a buzz? when you stop and think that hundreds of people are dying the most terrible deaths that you can imagine on a daily basis, you can do 1 of 3 things. 1- change your altitude, 2- change it again, and 3 is a charm. we were taught in school to not be like our governments leaders as they are. we were taught to have integrity and decency. to put this into a nutshell, i, and most of my friends will continue enjoying the ganja herb whether its legal or not. have a good day, i will.

Not all drugs because they can certainly destroy a person. Plus we need to consider that many people who are picked up for hard drug trafficing are later found to be guilty of much bigger crimes.

I am pro-marijuana legalization. Why? Many reasons.

First that marijuana has not been proven to contain any addictive substances. Which is more than one can say for any other drug including Tylenol, caffeine and nicotine.

Second that people under the influence of Marijuana, unlike alcohol, were proven capable of focusing to resolve difficult problems when they presented themselves. That people can sober themselves if needed.

Third, you can't overdose. Marijuana has not been proven to cause any forms of cancer or anything else that cigarettes do. Of course inhaling carbon is not recommended but somehow, there has been no marijuana related case. The overdose part comes from personal experience and much observation. You can't get poisoning, you won't end up in the hospital and when you've had enough.. you won't want anymore.

Fourth.. munchies. What a boost to the economy not only for those marketing this substance but for everyone in the food business.

Lastly, because I like it!
