sure the 1 GB, it will make your PC much faster than 512, beleive me!

It will depend if your computer can handle the faster RAM. If your computer is designed to use PC2100 RAM then 1 Gb of RAM is far better. If your computer can use PC2700 RAM then you will get better performance form the faster RAM. The down side is if you only have 512Mb of slower RAM and your system runs out of RAM you will have been better off with the slower RAM and not run have ran out of memory.
The fact that you are asking if you can use either, I assume, means your computer was designed for PC2100. You will not receive any benefit from the faster PC2700 RAM since the MB can only run at it's designed speed and not take advantage of the faster RAM.
go with the 1Gb of PC2100. IMO

1 gb pc 2100 is better .
