No you are not over simplifying! They start families before even graduating!
Look around you! It is madness!
Little girls still have not got the message that babies won't keep a boy!Women haven't either!
Stop making unwanted babies!Stop abusing your children!Get grown & get some smarts & then get married & start right!

It is no longer common. Lately our society in America has gotten to the point where love itself is secondary to other considerations such as career, goals, and overall well being. So yes you could say you are oversimplifying things. Ideally back in the 50's that was the goal for all American families, but over time the model has broken down quite the bit and the "nuclear family" re 2 kids and picket fence (color optional depending on the community I am living in), pet,(4 legs, under 30 lbs, must have short fur) and so on. Now there are many non traditional familes to consider, Single mom, single dad, two moms, so on and so forth. Honestly starting a family right after highschool is statistically likely to fail after a certain amount of time just due to the availability of tools to meet people which were not available before.

No, this is not common in America. Most couples wait a few years before getting married and starting a family. They might want to get an education, go into the armed forces for a time, or work full-time to save money for their future.

I do not believe that it is common anywhere geographically in the US. However what you may find is that in lower income families there are more young women having babies either during high school or soon after. You also will find that the majority of women going to college do not have children until later in life. So, yes I do believe that you are over simplifying things.

Well guess what ! Most of us in the South have families before we get to high school. We even have families when we start to school. Where the hell do you think we come from if we don't have families. Your are too dumb to just be a Yankee, you must also be a immigrant or even worse you might even be from India.

that is a stereo type from about 1973.
today most don't' marry till after college and families are smaller. back then average family had 3.2 kids. today its more like 1.7 kids. due to such a high divorce rate among peoples parents is one reason why many wait till mid 20's or later to marry.
