I want to open my small business in the U.S., however, I'm not a permanent resident nor a greencard holder. I'm just a student who came to U.S with F1 visa(student visa). So, I'm planning to open my small business after I finished my college to get a business visa so that I will be able to stay longer and legal in here while I still can go back to my homecountry anytime. My friend told me that with 50k I can open a business and show to the INS or other US dept. to obtain a business visa. Also,I will apply for OPT after I graduate and I will use that paper to open a small business rather than to work with a company. can I do that?
Thanks for the help....

In order to get an Immigrant Investor visa you will need at least 500K. Also, this must be your own money, not money loaned by banks, parents, etc.

Your other option is to get a NIV treaty / trader visa. However, this is a risky option.

What type of business do you want to open?

The third option is to get a B1/B2 and stay in the United States for short periods of time.

Fourth option: Marry an American.

I've heard that you have to hire a certain number of employees in order to qualify for business visa. I think you should consult a immigration lawyer on that.
