I personally think that Brokeback Mountain(BBM) should have won the Best PIcture instead of Crash. Crash was the one that was overrated, even if it talks about racial discrimination, it tries too hard to provide a good side of the bad characters that it becomes unrealistic and too idealistic.
BBM is not just a story about 2 gays, but a love story. Although the story seem slow at parts, it was the later part of the movie after Jack died that moved me. The shirt scene was wonderfully done, and Heath Ledger protrayed the pain of losing his love perfectly.
This movie is slightly different from the usual hollywood plots like killing and crappy humour(for some), and I would recommend you to watch it. It's not as bad as what the rest think.

Being from that general part of Wyoming, we already know the story and what happened. The people who are in Wyoming are more concerned that the license plates were the wrong county in the film. Also the only true scenery was actually Brokeback mountain itself outside of Riverton, Wyoming the rest was filmed in Canada.....as far as the subject matter....who cares!

I watched it I would have to say that I liked the scenery very much. And I appreciated the heartfelt warmth of the whole fallin inlove wit someone. But, I don't too much agree with the whole plot itself, about tryin to keep a secret like that yet travelin down to Mexico to get any ol' ***... Nore do I agree wit buckin any1 in the rear region wether male female or other thats just not what the rectum was created for... Like I said the scenery was beautiful, and the story line was okay but I don't feel it was Oscar wother... Yet I'm not a critic nor am I a commitee voter I didn't pay to see it in the movies only when it came out on DVD & I wanted my $3 back after watching it... I personally wouldn't recomend watching it unless u are fascinated with the whole gay cowboy scene, or just want to be freaky & watch somethin u wouldn't dare do yourself......
It was really cruel how the wives found out, confirmed, & delt with the situations at hand.. It goes to show that people only show you what they want you to believe who they are & not their true self.....

The scenery was lovely...
This is all that I could find to salvage a poor film. There was little character development which challenged the audience's empathy, lack of credibility due to unconvincing acting, a weak plot, and a dissatisfying conclusion.
Three thumbs down.

Yes, I enjoyed it very much. It's not so much a film about a gay relationship as it is about not following your heart in life. Both characters hurt the people around them, because they aren't honest about who they are, even to each other. The two main characters love each other deeply, but one of them is especially afraid to express this out of fear of what society can do. So, he chooses to alienate everybody in his world, because he is so angry about his inability to accept what he is that he lives a lie instead. I realize the film is a little slow for some tastes and that Ennis, the main character, is very quiet and inexpressive. But, if you're patient and observant, you'll realize what a truly beautiful and sad film it is.

HATED IT!.. I can't even fantasize about sexy, rugged, cow roping, horse riding, shirtless hard working, chewing tobacco spitting, toothless rednecks now.. why can't good 'ole boys be just that,, ?,,, heck I've even deal with them leaving town and doing the hit it and quit it, and riding off in the sunset,, but now I have to have that mental image about snuggling up in tents, and ... (insert sicko stuff here).. okay, go GAYS,, whatever,, but I'm not Gay,, so the hype was completely idiotic, and way to go for whatever lame *** markerters promoted scenery for the reason behind viewing this film, and now I have to worry about my hubby being on the "down low" cause Oprah, (or was it Dr. Phil) talking about hubbys who cheat, with gays, while married and living hetero lifestlyes.. sheesh, dont' I have enough to worry about???? Ellen is the friggin coolest ever on the gay platform,, she's not hiding anything, not promoting anything, or waving her tongue to anyone, she's real, she's a person.. sex is sex,, who we bang should be behind closed doors,, the movie sucked and I like my cowboys rugged and hetero,, just like gays I suppose.. but the hype was unworthy, and it's an injustice to the Gay community to have that movie, the conflict of a cheating spouse who is bi, and hides it,, just come out and be yourself... I dont' care, but manipulating and cheating isn't kewl., nor is not honoring oneself,, whatever sexuality you have!.... sucked sucked sucked.

it was long....very very very very very long.... there is a good fifteen min. of just nothing then maybe a workd or two than another good fifteen min. of nothing...then some gay cowboy sex in a tent and then more nothing...just long spans of nothing and random sex. there was about four or five words spoken through out the whole movie....It wasn't oscar worthy thats for damn sure. Pretty scenery thats about it the rest is just incredibly boring. ...yet for some reason I still own the movie...

I didn't see this movie. not because it was about a gay couple. but because of the director , Ang Lee. He directed the hulk a couple of years ago and he ruined it.
