a/100=27/4 this problem is a proportion. To solve this one you cross multiply. So...
multiply a times 4
multiply 100 times 27
4a=2700
divide 2700 by 4
a=675

to check this reduce 675/100 to 27/4 by dividing each by 25

what percent of 4 is 27

always replace what percent with your letter...x for example

of means times

is means =

4x=27 now divide by 4
x=6.75 now we must change this to percent by moving the decimal two places to the right, so..
x=675%

check by saying 4 times 6.75=27

if your problem had said what percent of 5 is 100, you would follow the same steps

5x=100
x=20 now move the decimal two places to the right to get percent
x=2000%
check by saying 5*20=100

now if we had 20% is how much of 200
20=200x
x=20/200
x=.1 .1 must be changed to a percent...to do this we move the decimal two places to the right, adding zeros as necessary.
x=10%

check 200*.10=20

now if we had 30% of 600 is what number
we just replace the what number with an x
of means times, see the * below
and remember is gets replaced with the = sign
so
.30*600=180 we had to change the percent to a decimal by moving two places to the left
30%*600=180

600*.30=180

a/100 = 27/ 4

taking the denominators... 4 x 25 gives a hundred. so 27 x 25 will give a... 675... therefore

675/100 = 27/4

to find the percentage of 27/4 = 27 x 25 / 4 x 25 = 625/100 = 625%

675%.
4 is 100 % of 4
8 is 200 % of 4
24 is 600% of 4
So 27 is 675 % of 4.
just divide 27 by 4 and multiply by 100

It is an algebra problem.

Multiply a/100 AND 27/4 by 100, and you get a = 2700/4.

2700/4 = 675

so a = 675

Your original equation is:
a / 100 = 27 / 4

To solve for a, first divide 27 by 4, which gives you 6.75:
a / 100 = 27 / 4
a / 100 = 6.75

Now multiply both sides by 100
100a /100 = 6.75 * 100
a = 675

-------------
Quick explanation:
a/100 = 27/4
a = (27/4) * 100
a = 6.75 * 100
a = 675

Good luck in your classes.

I was taught this simple formula years ago
IS %
OF= 100 There should be a linein between is/of & %/100
in the what % of 4 is 27 you have yor is(27) & your of (4) so it would be
27 ___
4 = 100
multiply 27x100 & divide that by 4 the answer is 675

I hoped you understood that
