Santo Domingo may be the capital of the Dominican Republic and the oldest European town in the Americas and in the event that you wish to see among the UNESCO World Heritage List then, this hotelbye is the place. Santo Domingo is really a collage of cultures and neighborhoods. It's where in actuality the sounds of living, domino parts smacked on tables, backfiring mufflers and horns from disorderly traffic. In the heart of the town is the Zona Colonial, wherever you will find one of the oldest churches and the oldest remaining European. Also, in the Zona Colonial you will see Gazcue, one of many city's oldest neighborhoods, filled up with previous Victorian houses and tree-lined streets.

I agree with the Caribe Tours bus suggestion. It's very comfortable, even moreso than a Greyhound bus here in the U.S.; warning about renting a car, though. It's a VERY LONG trip!!! You'd be driving from opposite ends of the island! And I'm assuming you've never done that before. So, to avoid getting lost or tired, just take the bus.
!Que tengas buen viaje!

Why are you flying into SD to go to Puerto Plata??? Fly right into PP. You've got a long taxi ride and an expensive one at that!! Reconsider your plans........
