I have a friend who really needs to see a doctor about several issues she is having, but she has no health insurance. She has called her county DHS office, but they tell her she cannot get Medicaid even though she has to children under 18. She's the soul care giver of the children, why the hell can't she be covered by Medicaid? Would the state rather she be ill and not able to care for them? It's ridiculous.

By the way, according to the state DHS website, she is eligible. It's the county telling her that she is not. I know it's not an income issue because she falls within the guidelines.

medicaid coverage is based on income. Depending on the state/county she is living in will determine whether she is eligible.
