Hi - Have you ever read Uncle Tom's Cabin ? It is one of the great books of all times. And the character of Tom was one of the finest people imaginable. Anybody would do well to be a 1/10th as good as he was.
So to call someone an Uncle Tom as a put down is ignorant and should be an embarrassment to the person who said it.

If someone calls another an uncle tom just because they are successful, then the name caller is doing something I like to call "hating." You maybe mistaking the circumstance as to why that person was being called an uncle tom. That phrase comes from the slavery days referring to a "black" person that totally goes against their own character, assimilating white people, trying to act more like white people in order to fit in wit da master. Today when used, it is usually calling out what I call an "Oreo," black on the outside and white on the inside, aka an a$$ kisser or a sell out. One shouldn't have to compromise themselves in order to make it; all the white man does is look at the uncle tom and think "now that's a good n*$$@3."

How can being successful be bad?
The black urban culture sees this as caving in to the white man and running away from his or her race. It thus becomes nothing more than black on black racism and class envy.

The term Uncle Tom has nothing to do with someone's success; it refers to a black who is overeager to win the approval of whites (as by obsequious behavior or uncritical acceptance of white values and goals).

Jealousy and ignorance, being brainwashed with the fact that since a lot of things depict black people as low then their people are supposed to play that part. Wrong.

The ones that do that are jealous.
What they fail to realize is if they took care of their own instead of looking at Joe over there, they could be just as successful.

it is a concept - you overlook with regard to the liberals who use 'racist!' like it is a nuclear strike, and we will overlook with regard to the conservatives who pretend to confuse socialism with the Nazi social gathering. Rational human beings from each and every area can than initiate chatting with one yet another back rather of in basic terms capturing basic objectives and affirming victory without ever being compelled to protect their position. .

Jealousy within our own race to see advancement of our people. This only comes from ignorant people who are too lazy to get off their butts and do something with their life.

It's the "politics of resentment" - that is, "If I can't get it, I don't want you to have it, either."
It's like the Fox And The Grapes on steroids.
Except that all foxes are really cute and they probably hate liberals.

I didn't know they did, now I'm curious as well. Are they suggesting that those who are successful bowed to a "boss". Curious, I'm going to watch this one, thanks for asking the question.
