Well, this depends on several things. If you mean cubic yards like dump truck and loader bucket payloads are measured in and how large of "rocks" your talking about. Gravel or boulders? Considering 100sq ft is an area 10 ft x 10 ft and a cubic yard is 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft. or 9 ft x 9 ft x 4 inches thick then one should be plenty. Just remember cu. yd. measurements are approx. amounts.

One cubic yard = 27 cubic feet, 3x3x3 = 27. So 3x3 =9 square feet. So 11x9 = 99 square feet. Meaning you will need 11 layers 2 inches thick. 11x2 = 22. This cubic yard is 3 feet high or 36 inches. 2/3 of a yard would be 27 inches, so you would have a little left over. Enough left over to cover an additional 18 square feet 2 inches thick. Always best to have more than not enough. 2/3 of a yard will do it.

Sweetie, volume equals area times depth. You have not specified what depth you want. If you want it one foot thick then you need 196 x1 or 196 cubic feet. There are 27 cubic feet per cubic yard. Divide 196 by 27 and you'll have your answer. Do it the same way for other depths.

Trust lbeeware on this. One cubic yard will do it. I calculate
you'll have enough for 3" deep and then some change left over.
And most places I deal with actually give you a little more than a
cubic yard.
