the key word is tolerance. like the previous poster mentioned, you don't have to accept, like, or even embrace it, but as long as you are able to tolerate it, then it should be fine. If you don't like the sound of the azan, don't live near a mosque. Feel irritated by church bells or temple sounds? Move to somewhere that has none. If you're on a plane for a 16-hour flight and a baby is crying non-stop in it, what do you do? tell the mother to throw her baby out the window? no, you just put up with it.

It takes a noble person to be able to put up with indifferences, of which there are few in the world we live in today...Sad but true.

er...ur point is..? am i suppose to answer ur question?

well, r u from Malacca? yep, i have friends from different race, too.

Just yesterday I went to my Indian friend's Deepavali party. I had a great time, with my friends.Eventhough we did not get to make the "kolam" together, coz she made it earlier b4 we came. Ofcuz she invited friends from different race( Malay, Chinese..),too.

So, to answer ur question : No, i don't felt distracted by Temple sound/mosque sound. I only felt distracted when my neighbour's alarm is alerted the whole night.

Btw, i'm Chinese n Buddhist, but, that doesn't matter, anyway...:) yep, i do greet my friends, too, when they r going to church or temple etc.

oh, lastly, Happy DeepaRaya :):)

A person may tolerate it because there isn't many options but it does not mean he has accepted it. If he is wealthy he may leave to live in a 'quieter' all-residential neighbourhood, or another country with less religion.

Who likes to be roused from his sleep with church bells? or muezzim's call to prayers, or taoist chanting next door? I don't.
