I think it depends on the age. When I was around 14 or 15, I would've gone to make out. If I go to the movies on a date now, I'd be there to watch the movie.

I love films, they give something to discuss after the date rather than just the akward getting to know you thing, it allows for common ground even if there isn't anything else other than the two on the date are human. But I am sure that there are people who prefer to just make out on first dates at the movies, but I haven't met one of those yet...

If it's a first date so that you don't have to make too much conversation. you can spend most of the date together but not have to try and think of things to say.
