I personally find both of those comedians to be hilarious. I've never thought of thier comedy to be "picking on" us (white people). I find that they make fun of all races, even thier own.
It's just comedy/entertainment. Also, I think white people don't have as much of a problem enjoying it simply as comedy because there isn't the history behind it as it would be if it were white comedians talking about black people...

Fair is fair. Personally I don't agree with the way Don Rickles dishes out his so called jokes either. He pokes fun at all races and it's not fair. I am white and I am not insulted if black comedians pick on us. We have picked on black people enough during the ages. However, in my eyes, running down a race is not funny. There are more tasteful jokes out there to make us belly laugh than running anyone into the ground. Some comedians need to get a life.

First of all, racism is racism. No need to call it reverse. I personally am not offended by these comments, and some of them are pretty funny. On the other hand, I do find it pretty offensive that it's okay for black comedians to make fun of whites (among other races) but it's NOT okay for anyone to pick on blacks. Except other blacks of course. It's a double standard.

There's white people and there's 'the man.'
Black comedians most frequently are ridiculing 'the man' who oppresses whites, blacks, and anyone else just about equally. Some people can see that. Sometimes the comedian hits the nail so squarely on the head that even those who recognize themselves can't help but laugh.

I'm not white but I'm Latina and can tell you if its TRUE I'm going to laugh. there bits isn't just pointing out the bad or good of a race but things you can relate to being in the lower class. Comedians like Carlos Mencia BUG the day lights out of me BC every last bit of his is racist! Its like don't you have other material?? GLO (George Lopez on the other hand speaks the truth about our race and thats hwy he is loved. Not to say he says anything negative but its up to you to intreped he just says thing about everyday life as a latino.

I don't like it because it's uncreative. It's not difficult to think of a racist stereotype and mock it for the approval of others. The problem is people feel they have to laugh or they'll be labelled racist or one of the people the joke is pointed towards. It's easy to get a laugh that way. It's just laziness, which bothers me. It's the same as if someone went up on stage and started telling jokes about blacks and fried chicken. It takes no imagination, which is not funny.

Chappelle and Rock are pretty evenhanded when it comes to race.
Of course a comic can get away with stuff that none of us would ever say in public.

Chappele and all the white jokes are hilarious, and I think most people find them that way. Ever hear of blue collar comedy tv, that country guy busts on his own redneck people. Thats hilarious too and all the rednecks love it.
