They remind me of a story:
When I was a kid(I think I was about nine or ten), I was at a daycare and we were all eating lunch when a little girl who was about two years old started choking a little bit. After the ladies in charge took care of her, she uttered "It...it went down the wrong pipe!" which, coming out of the mouth of a two-year old, was the funniest and cutest thing I'd ever heard!
So it reminds me of choking on food ;)

Well , if I only would of listened to myself, and wish I had never said what I said. Thats what went down the wrong pipe means to me.

that you took a drink of something and you started to chocke because it went down the wrong pipe. either that or it could be like saying you took some news the wrong way.

it's like when you are drinking (or eating) and you inhale and something goes down your windpipe, instead of your throat pipe
