I saw a black widow on my garage door. I need to report to someone to get rid of it , because it spreading the cocoons on its web. Tell what to do to expell this creature in neighborhood.

Are they poisonous if they bite me or my neighbors.

You can find photos of both spiders on the web (great pun, huh?)- they don't look anything alike.

Black widows are actually very common spiders in the US- but they are incredibly shy and prefer habitats different than we want to hang with- dark, musty corners and undisturbed places.

Even though they are so common, almost nobody is ever butten by them, and only a few people who are bitten get very sick- venomous does not mean always fatal!

You can contact your local county extension service for help and advice about what to do.

There is no Brown widow. Not unless you mean a Brown Recluse. Black widows are downright toxic. They can be recognized with a signature red hourglass on their underside. If you want to get rid of the spider without touching it, just spray it with some windex or bleach.

Yes they are highly poisonous you need to stay away from them. If you do get bit you will need to go to the hospital immedietly. Just call and exterminator and they will take care of it. The females are the black ones and I believe the males may be brown and they don't have the red mark on them because only the females do.

I just smashed a Black Widow spider today. (the 2nd one I've found this year!) They are quite poisonous to people.

I just read a few days ago that they are cousins and found in different locations. the brown ones were everywhere in the flood areas of katrina and in SC we have black widowa.

yes they are fatal. you could be hospitalized if you get bit by it. They're pretty much the same, the only difference is watch out for brown ones its twice as deadly!

there are black widows and there are brown recluse they are both poisonous
