yes-with conjuctivitis (pink eye) your eye will be very red, swollen, and will usually drain pus.
be VERY careful not to rub your eyes as this can spread the infection to the other eye and to other people. wash your hands several times throughout the day and anytime you touch your face.
use the eye drops you were given-it was probably an antibiotic based eyedrop and you should start seeing results within 24-48 hours after you start using it.
if it continues longer than 4 days-then i would see a specialist. most urgent care docs are used to seeing things such as pink eye, scrapes, cuts, colds, etc so my guess is he/she knew what you had a first glance
good luck to you and hope u feel better soon

Either it's the pink eye or you are experiencing something I went through. I think the big fancy medical term is a lesion. I had got dirt trapped between my contact and my eye pushing the dirt into my eye leaving a scare. When I went into the sunlight, I had 2 close my eye but it still tingled. I got some eye drops from the doctor, but I think the 2nd time I picked up some type of Visine and it worked also

I was an army medic before going to school.
It could very well be pink eye. Follow the doctor's directions. If you see someone Monday you don't want an "optomotrist", you might want an "opthomologist" or even your own doctor (best).
Also, pink eye is extremely contagious. Avoid contact with people if you can.
Best of luck to you.

The drops can't hurt. Use them and if you aren't feeling any better by Mon or Tues, then go to the optometrist. The doctor is a professional and most likely knows what he is talking about... pink eye is very common and easy to diagnose.
