everyone knows nate robinson rite?? is his vertical leap all natural or did he get it from working out? cuz his achellis tendon is not that long and his legs look more like body building legs that basketball player legs. also, he mentioned that he got his vert from genes. but it kinda of skeptical cuz being born with a 43.5 inch vert is pretty crazy.

truth is, to deny a genetic component is ridiculous, there is definitely some genetic predispositions at play here. But he clearly worked his butt off making his legs and fast twitch muscles ridiculously strong, and also achieving very little body fat, thus making him a lot lighter of a person which makes him able to jump even higher. Did you notice how poorly Michael Jordan seemed to jump when he came back and played for the Wizards? It wasn't because he didn't have the genetic gifts to jump any more, it's because he added on so much bodyfat weight...

who is nate robinson?
the body is a machine and can be built to specification. The mind is like a computer it is linked up to a mainframe but with special upgrades you can do math and trig with ease while others have gifts in speaking languages. DNA can code how these things work together. but all children must learn to walk before they Run and they must be able to run before they can do a marathon.

i would say its 75% genetics and 25% other factors. factors like mental, working out, practice...

when i say genetics, i mean fast twitch muscle fibers... all the time in the gym wont change how many of those you have... just ask roy jones junior

by the way, spud webb had a 46 inch vertical back in the days

All natural born athletic skills are genetics or God-given.
