I got off Alesse 28 Birth control 5 months ago, and I have always have very heavy periods on and off birth control. Last month I was a week late and I just spotted. (Not to be gross, I just had to use pantyliners through the whole thing) Me and my husband are trying, but I know it can take time when getting off BC. I took a preg test a day before the spotting began and it was Neg. Any advice on why I just spotted last month? I have never had a period like that before even getting off BC in the past.

It can take up to a year or longer for your body to get back into its normal cycles again. It all depends on how long you were on the birth control, and it varies from person to person. Don't be discouraged if it takes you a few more months before your period evens out.

You may want to take another prenancy test. Even though some home tests claim to be able to detect pregnancy early, they aren't that reliable that early. Many women have that spotting during their first month or so of pregnancy. Either try another home test, or get a test at your doctor's office.

were the previous cycles norm? I would probably calll the doctor and see what they recommended. there are several things that can cause irregular periods, Stress, weight loss/gain, strenous excerises, and some health issues such as thyroid or other endocrine systems malfunctioning.
