Im just wondering. :)

A form of dance? Lifting people and throwing people isnt a dance. you need physical strength and ability to be able to do that.
Horse racing? lmao. the only one who gets anything physical out of that is the horse.
I would seriously like to see everyone who says that cheer is easy and that cheer is not a sport, actually TRY it.
But I am glad to see that people are becoming more open minded about it now.
Whenever I tell someone older that I am a cheerleader they think its all pom poms and football games. My team has never been to a school football game ever. We compete, we dont wave pom poms around and act like airheads.

A competition of athletic endurance, strength, and skill where there is a goal, a winner, and a loser
athletic endurance..try lifting a girl or throwing her. you certainly need strength for that.
skill is definately an asset.
there is a goal, to stick every stunt, and get the most points to beat the other teams.
there are winners and losers. we compete against other teams.

I was a cheerleader, and it IS a sport. Makes me so pissed when people say it isn't. My dad did that to me! I didn't want to play basketball, because I sucked at it (and my friends weren't into it) and when I made cheerleader he acted like it was nothing. Didn't count etc.... Grrrrrrr.....

Do you ever go to a cheer leading competition and see a football game on the side line? I'd call cheer leading a sub sport. I think if it was only done as competition you wouldn't have to ask but the fact that it's secondary to a number of other sports kind of takes some integrity away from it as being a sport.

Typical high school cheerleading is not a sport. Cheerleading competitions is a sport. If you've ever known anyone personally who has done it & know what they go through then you know it's just as much a sport as an Olympic event.

A sport has a goal of some kind. There is no goal in cheerleading.
Get it?
