If you have a special someone you are ready if things come naturally. It should be easy to get along with this person and the two of you should not argue very much. True love comes easy and doesn't require much work. If there is not anyone special it is hard to tell. You never really know until you get that ahhh feeling of bliss and decide good or bad (very seldom) I would be happy to spend the rest of life with this person and even if it doesn't work out I am just glad the God allowed me to met them and have them for as long as I did. That's when you know marriage is the next step.

I don't think you ever really know. I've been married for 22 years and when he asked me to marry him I said yes. When you love someone you take the good with the bad. If you can get thru the bad times together then the good times are even better. You could also just ask yourself,"Can I be with this person for the rest of my life no matter what?" If you think you can than it's worth it. No one is "perfect" and to believe anyone is , is just being unrealistic. You grow with that person and take the good with the bad. I love my husband just as much today as I did 22 years ago when I said "I do". And believe me he's not perfect, but neither am I. Hope this helps.

First define marriage. In my understanding of marriage, the answer is easy. Marriage is a commitment to serve another above yourself. You should each be seeking the others' benefit. The result will be that you both prosper better than one alone. If you find someone like that, someone you can be like that for, then you are ready for marriage. Too many people think marriage is about the motive of seeking their own benefit. Those kinds of marriages suffer until they review their expectations and commitments, then revise them to look like what I've described. Otherwise, you go along to get along, and just endure the relationship for the sake of the benefits. That doesn't sound too joyful, does it? But if you're committed to making your spouse feel benefited or better yet, be benefited by your presence in their lives, then you both have someone looking out for your best interests and usually doing a better job of it than you could do for yourself.
This does not mean it will be easy. We are all full of faults, we all bring expectations into our relationships. And we all fall short of many of those expectations. So bring good cheer, and plenty of patience, but purpose yourself to be the best thing that ever happened to your spouse. Oh yeah, and I always recommend pre-marital counseling to work out as many of those unrealistic expectations as possible before the marriage gets started.

If you can't tell if you're not ready to get married to that special someone than that is your answer if your ready or not . . . answer is ~ you're not ready. If you're unsure about buying a car...generally you don't buy it. If you're unsure about not buying a certain wondered of item of clothing...you don't generally buy it. The heart is too precious not to be patient for or sure for. If unsure...wait till sure...or listen to that message of unsureness and maybe that message is saying...just because you love him does'nt mean he is the right one to marry. Marriage takes more than love to be successful. Qualities of trust, humor, heart value, managing disagreements in a valuing and healthy way, money management, time management agreement, listening to the others view in an open way, do you share a relationship of allowing room for the other to grow, supporting and nuturing of each others thoughts, dreams, concerns, open conversation.

If you have doubts, listen to those doubts, discuss them openly with each other. If you have doubts wait....you're not ready for marriage...remain coming to know that person.

The plain and simple truth is that no one is ever really "ready" for marriage, even if you lived together first, marriage is a whole new game, just like parenthood, we are never really ready for that either. All we can do is take the risk and work hard to make it work.

You know your ready when the last person you want to see at night is that special someone, and they are the first thing you want to see when you awake. You don't have to wonder if they love you anymore because you just know they do. Love is a great thing, don't ever take it for granted.

How old are you? Have you completed your education? These days it's tough in a competitve workforce. As for the marriage part, when you meet, spend time with a "special someone", one day it will hit you that you want to spend the rest of yr life with that person.

Nobody ever knows for sure, even though they may think they do. I do know that men and women make these kind of decisions differently.

Women make the decision emotionally. I don't know how that works. For men it works best to leave emotion out of it, and make the decision through cold hard logic. Women, if they find out, don't like the way men make their decision, as it doesn't sound very "romantic." (i.e. Men make a benefit to risk analysis of action and compare it to the benefit to risk analysis of inaction)

Just be aware of one thing, "Men don't ever change!" Make sure you get married to someone who is what you want, and not someone who you believe will change into what you want.

If you're religious, pray about it.
