See, I love writing stories because I have an imagination that just won't stop producing ideas for stories. I'd really like to write and actually finish writing it. I have a problem with taking to long and editing in the process of outlining. As I'm writing the sorty/outlining I just keep adding details and then the plot changes in my mind.
Does anyone have advice on outlining and writing a teen novel?

Writing is an active process and as you write, new ideas come up,

Write down EVERYTHING and discard later. It is better to have too much than not enough.

What you're going through when writing is perfectly normal. When you are done, and the plot has twisted and turned to the point where you have written several different stories into your original idea, have an editor look at it. A good editor will blue-pencil all the irrelevant stuff, and make your story flow better. After your first re-write, take all the ideas that your editor deleted, and put them off to the side for your next story.
Good luck!

Writing, especialy a novel, is such a fluid process. It's when the stuff stops moving in yr head that you have to worry. It's also an evolutionary process, so the more it changes the more refined it should become. Good luck!

Same thing with me, so I started three different stories. And if I get a new ideal I change arounda few details making it so. to me, you should just keep writing/typing what you want to happen in the story. Anything can happen if you make it that way in the story. But if you want to stick with ONE plotline for a story the first one you come up with. If you have another one start ANOTHER story.

Have you not been a teenager? Start with a conflict;wanting to bang a cheerleader, not making the football team etc. Add details of teenage life such as anorexia, depression, financial difficulties. And then in my personal opinion develop the story as if the conflict will be resolved, but it won't. You'll have bestseller in no time.

1. decide on your subject
2. make a very SIMPLE storyline (boy meet girl, boy like girl, girl don't like boy, something like this)
3. choose your characters, and make outlines that explain their personality
4. make a more specific outline of your story
5. Combine story outline with character outline
6. Write story

Whenever I write anything, I just write. No prep, nothing. I just keep writing everything that comes to my head and try and be as fluid as possible.
