im the girl for this question. home schooled up to 8th grade. went to high school and am now attending college. i wish i could have gone to elementary school. kids need friends and socializing throughout their lives. i didn't have that for the longest time. but middle schools these days are so screwed up. kids are rude, and peer pressure extreme. glad i was homeschooled during that. high school-almost every kid should attend. needed to help an individual progress and learn who they are. some people though have certain situations that make them better candidates for home schooling. anyway, regarding your question, i would say no, but i am grateful that my mom home schooled me and my 6 siblings. i met my family during that time and strong bonds were formed in the early years and are long lasting.

I home school my children because I fear for them to go to public schools here. If you live in a small community where there are maybe ten children per school room, then I would send my kids to school for the social interaction if for no other reason. Here in Georgia, there are anywhere from thirty to fifty children in each class, and I live in a town with less than 50,000 people in it, so I can't even imagine how bad it is in Atlanta. The children have no one-on-one time with the teachers. If they don't understand the material, the class moves on anyway. The good thing about home schooling is that if my child does not understand multiplication, I can stop and we study it until he does. The public school would just move on to division, and my child would be left in the dark, because he has no idea what to do. He would be forced to cheat like most children are forced to do in the public school system at one point in time or the other. I was home schooled, and my mother stopped when I didn't understand something. My cousins had to cheat. My cousin had all the multiplication answers written down in the back of his binder folder, and he would simply look at the chart. To this day he doesn't know his time tables by memory. I think a child should be home schooled if the situation calls for it, but the parents have to be very dedicated and patient, and willing to teach them. Most parents have a darn good reason why they don't send their children to public school, and if the mom or dad can't stay home to teach them for financial reasons, they send them to private schools. I believe in home schooling, and I think in our case, the kids will get a better education here. And as for social interaction, sign them up in softball, or basketball, or swimming, or something like that. Social interaction is not hard to find.

No, because it isolates the kid from other people that will probibly like make them all unsocial and bad around other people. I imagine it would also be harder to get into a decent collage, and even if you do get into collage then it would most likely be harder than if you went to a public school. This would be so because of inadiquite teaching methods of the parent, because they wouldn't be certified to teach, like teachers are. It also depends on the parent. If they are a teacher, and a good one at that, then the whole learning experience may be better at home. But being atleast semi-social is required in most jobs and would be a hard skill to aquire as an adult. So, basicly what I'm saying is that homeschooling isn't really that great for a child.

It seems like the morals in schools these days has eroded so that is a good reason for home schooling. However, since school is a good training ground for life, I kind of think it is harder on the kids to be protected from the society of school. Home schooling doesn't provide the diversity of personalites and situations that public or private schools do. I think it is better to be strong parents (which I'm sure you are) and provide good skills to your children so they make the right choices in school, or ensure they communicate well with you so they can share their school problems with you so you can help them solve them. The world is a scarey place, and unfortunately, school is also. But it is a training ground that will prepare them for adult life.

Depends on the school and neighborhood the kids live in. I don't think that keeping them in a home school environment is good for the child if he lives in a safe city and they have safe schools. Children need to socialize with many kids!

Its the worst thing in the world unless your part of a cult and know no better, it excludes them from social activity and engagment how can a child become acclimated to the world environment if he has no one but his family to interact with theres no life experience involved in homeschooling it's child cruelty under a different name.

well, no for a couple factors
the first being that we, as humans, were born to socialize with the rest of the world
the scond is that, i think most teenagers(such as myself) want more freedom and cannot STAND being under our parent's watchfull eyes 24/7
maybe if you want more a more contolling school community, then enroll students in a private school

no, because although kids would get one on one attention allowing them to learn quicker it is unrealistic. when they are working or are at college are they going to have this one on one attention? they have to be able to adapt to real life. also kids need to be put in social situations and learn how to work and play with other people other than their parents. socializing is an important skill that will get you just as far as intelligence.
