I don't believe they are born gay to begin with. I believe that though they may have more feminine traits in their brain, after all is said and done it is ultimately their choice to become gay.

Of course, all creatures are born with 3 basic instincts...Food, Shelter and Reproduction. Those are hardwired into all creatures. Humans, hetero and homo, have that as well. I often hear of homosexuals wanting to have children, and they use other means (surrogates) in order to do so. I think that the survival of the fittest has been...altered by our own intelligence. Think of how many handicapped or dependant people there are out there. Millions of years ago, they would have been left to die or fend for themselves, but through our intelligence and abilities, we've been able to keep these people among us, which is a wonderful thing. Who's to say that's not part of survival of the species. It teaches us to care and nuture those who can't do so for themselves. While many of Stephen Hawkin's theories and ideas may not be applicable now, who knows who can make them reality later. Now what if he had been left to find for himself?

I heard once that gays are perpetuated because they help out the rest of the immediate family so that that family is more fit and can have more successful kids. Mankind evolveds in small 10-20 member bands. The gay member didnt reproduce but helped out a lot around the camp and whatnot and even became the shaman spiritual guide etc. So this gay gene was perpetuated in the population in this way.

I never looked at it that way. Good observation, but although reproduction is the surest way to continue human kind, there are other people that aren't born gay who can continue to reproduce.

Yes, do your studies, there are gay animals in nature, I believe it is not a choice on the majority of the population, they are born with those tendencies, check your history on people, you will see. Some people might be confused, but I think the majority of them knew from a very young age!!!!

Well, I don't wholly believe in Social Darwinism. It's too hetero... frankly, who wants kids anyway? It's a good thing that we have hot gay guys so as not to overpopulate the world even MORE. You know... until male pregnancy can occur, but I believe that'll take a while to develop. Sooo...

Your idea may hold water if homosexuality was the orientation of the majority of people and other animals, but it isn't.
