OK, Friday afternoon I went out to eat at Hooters (Oooh, yes, HOOTERS) and had a hamburger cooked rare. Before I went to bed that night, I started to throw up. Could it have been the burger? Or is it something else, like the flu? I haven't thrown up all day...and I'm starving. Is it OK to eat something big, like a meal, or should I give it a couple of days and just continue on eating crackers? Thanks!

The most common causes of food poisoning take 48 hours to develop before showing symptoms. (i.e. Salmonella spp. and Campylobacter spp.) It's a bit early for those bad actors to make your life miserable. The gang that act within 6 hours are heavy metal poisoning and Staphylococcus spp., and Bacillus cereus which are quite rare. The last one comes from cooked rice that has been stored at room temperature for many hours. It is known as Chinese restaurant syndrome. Most Chinese resataurants are aware of that problem and store cooked rice in their cold room. So it also, is unlikely. It may be Salmonella poisoning from eating improperly cooked chicken or chicken products (or eggs or mayo). . 48 or more hours ago. Stomach flu. must have muscle pain in your back or neck or it's not flu.
What to do. Go easy on the food ingestion front for another 24 hours. Avoid milk products as they are hard to digest. Soup and toast might be a good bet. Avoid whole meals or you may tossing chunks and chicklets shortly thereafter. Also, anything that is fatty.
The condition should improve shortly and resolve shortly after that. If it gets worse, (unlikely unless you are old or have immune system problems), get off to the e.r. at your favorite charnel house. They'll probably put you on a tetracycline broad spectrum antibiotic. (doxycycline or minocycline etc.).
Bed rest is a good idea. (avoid the regular frat parties for a while). You should be ship shape in a little while.
Ginger ale is good for nausea, even if it's flat.
I feel for you,
Get well quick, that's an order.

Never eat a rare burger. It can be full of bacteria. In some areas, restaurants are not allowed to serve a hamburger unless it is completely cooked. Hooters is not exactly known for good food either. Don't eat there.

It could either be the meat or the flu. If you've been out in the cold and have been sneezing a lot it could probably the flu.But if you haven't, it could probably be the meat. Try eating whatever you want and if you still continue to throw up, then just eat the crackers until you feel better.
Hope You Feel Better!

It could be the burger or anything else you had with it but the most dangerous thing you mentioned is that you had it rare ,,,,,, Hamburger is very dangerous when eaten raw or rare because of parasites or other things in it that could be consumed ,,,,, Any ground meat what so ever ,,,,,, Hamburger should be cooked thoroughly and especially pork ,,,,, ground or not ,,,,, to prevent this happening ,,,,,,, Steaks are safe to eat rare because any parasite or anything else is cooked when the out side of the cut of meat is singed or browned ,,,,,, Grinding meats allows these organisms to permeate the meat ,,,,,

well... all form of illness and dis-ease is a result of imbalance. These things can be seeded in your conditions, or the laws of your birth, what you have inherited by reason of what has been done before, or rather what needs to be worked upon and achieved, because everything that you will experience or will go through your soul choose it. It can be said that many of the things we experience in the body is a result of thought-patterns that become stuck in the body, emotional conditioning which changes your chemistry on a cellular level as the emotional molecule leaches unto the cell. Emotions can become physical in the body. There are ways to free the body out of these patterns that can become fossilized. However karma is more then just cause and effect, especially when it comes to reincarnation. The lives that a soul will express is chosen in regards to the karma that compels. How you live this debt is what the soul chooses and thus is the laws of your birth which define what you are working on in such a life, the body of karma. As for forgiveness, it is more so the necessity of repentance, which means to unloose your mind and make a turn from what you were to what you need to become. (Edit) In this is turning upon the negative and using it as a opportunity for growth and consciousness. In this you can change and transcend the conditioned state of sickness which has plagued you. I wanted to add that last part ALSO add this, anything that occurs is done so because of ourselves. Sometimes we need shocks and awes to wake us up, all that matters is how we react to these experiences and what we gain from them. If we can gain consciousness and make a turn, then we are on are way and our last state will be greater than our first before we experienced.

I would follow the BRAT diet...Bread, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. Or eat bland foods like soup, tea, gatorade, crackers, and bread for a day.

Give your gut a rest. You may have puked out what was in your stomach, but there could be bacteria percolating in your intestines, waiting to come out the other end.

To be on the safe side, err to caution. Take it easy and skip heavy foods (dairy, meat, fat laden or rich foods) for a day. If all goes well and you have one day w/o vomiting or any overall stomach problems, then it should be safe to resume a normal diet.

FYI, eating rare meat is risky. If you must eat it, try medium to well done.

You most likely got food poisioning from the rare beef. It is very dangerous to eat rare now, meat is handled very differently. Just think you could have injested the bacteria from an unwashed bathroom hand. Umm yum! Not. Ecoli is rampant in raw beef. Stay safe and becareful with what you eat.

If you got parasites I think it stakes a few days?? BUt if it is you wil lose weight and your poop will smell sweet. You will vomit and diahrea atthe same time. Your electrolytes will go down dangerously and you will need to go in for an IV possibly. So if it lasts more than 2 days go in.. I had this it is from someone thathas geardia who poooped and did not wash their hands and made you food and well gross, their poop is in your food. uhg iw gross. it is reported to the state. Hope you get better. Stick with dry toast, 7 up . anything that is good going down as well as up.

I would say it's something from the meat, expecially if it was rare.

I would say it's okay to eat. But I'd try something light at first just to make sure it sits okay.
