just use dexron/mercron III this is what most car manufacturers are calling for now (gm ford and Chrysler) it used to be mercron II for gm and type f for ford and mercron III for Chrysler . but now its mainly III for all of them.

You can't truly flush a tranny unless you have a power flusher. The reason being,if you empty the pan that removes about 2-5 quarts. And depending on your tranny ,most hold about 9-13 quarts. So all the new fluid mixes with all the bad that was left behind. You also have to change the tranny filter and pan gasket.
As far as the upgrade fluid, the only think i know of is an automatic tranny treatment. It's like the Slick 50 or those other treatment for engines, but for trannies.
Good luck,oh and check your fluid if it shifts rough in third you might be low on fluid.

The newer Chrysler vehicles take a upgraded type of trans fluid, I can't remember what its called, but the best thing to do is take your car to a place where they can flush the trans. It'll cost around $100, but it changes almost all the fluid in the trans, not just a few quarts, like dropping the pan and changing the filter.

do not use dexron mercon III. Your car takes a chrysler fluid called 7176 or atf+3 or atf+4. The atf+3 superceded the 7176 and the atf+4 superceded the atf+3. Pennzoil makes a fluid called multi-vehicle that you can use in the chrysler also good for gm and ford.
