No. Download speed is dependent on a couple things. First, your connection. DSL and cable are the best and modem is the worst. It is also dependent on the speed of the hosts (where you're getting the files) upload. If they have a slow upload speed then it doesn't matter how fast you download.

Only if you are choking your processor to death running too many apps while downloading!
As far as the other answers go, you dam sure will slow your download down considerably by tying up the processor with too much crap runnin!
