Hello Floyd: I believe that the most important thing is to maintain civility with your wife throughout the divorce and avoid attorneys at all costs. If you can come to agreement with your wife regarding the hows and wheretofores regarding property, money, etc and use a divorce paper preparation service for your state, you each will take away your pride, self-esteem, and material wealth that would otherwise go to lawyers and be eroded by acrimony. Divorce is emotional, but in reality merely two people moving apart into separate lives in the same way they once moved together into relationship and marriage. Keep your emotions in check, be kind and gentle, strive for the 3 C's: cooperation, compromise, and consensus. Best of luck to you!

The first to the bank wins. Empty your bank accounts and take all the equity out of your home. Sell off extra cars or anything that you think could be split between the two of you. Do not deposit it into an account in your name. She could hire a private investigator to find the money. Be smart.

Luckily my husband's and my assets were frozen the day I filed. But he is being such an assss now, I should have beat him to the bank.

You said custody isnt an issue. But if you split it 50/50 there is no child support.

Good Luck sorry I'm not a man.

i agree really try a trial separation its only fair to both of you. Should that not be the way then sit down together just the 2 of you and lay out some ground rules and guidelines for the divorce dont pay some lawyer huge money for something you both can do, try to be civil to each other dont let the petyness take over if seen it happen to too many rational intelligent adults and they always resort to the "you'll be hearing from my lawyer" line dont let it ruin a potentially good friendship down the road or at least a civil relationship. good luck to you just remember always be considerate of each other.

well just know that it is a pain. my divorce was misery for about 6 months. What is more is even if you get devorced she can still make your life misery, like using your name to get credit and such. things can get bloody, if you are going to do it, try to do it smooth and make sure the other side is not going to freak. if the other side is going to freak GET A LAYWER. That way the law will cover you

be prepared for contention on every front.......monetary, possessions, and debt..................if u can.........plan carefully.........my lawyer was solid.......u dont need an expensive one unless u have exorbitant assets. we're behind the 8 ball to start with, and thats putting it very, very nicely.
