There is no profit in saving Americans but loads of money stealing oil from Iraq.
I feel the government has all is priorities all mixed up and really doesn't give a toot about it's own people but will do anything it takes to steal another countries oil just to show how thinks is the boss.
By neglecting ones own people in time of disaster is shameful and to kill for the sake of stealing another countries oil is shameful too, both lead to many needless deaths which our country has yet to take any responsibility for and that is most shameful for any country especially this country which has lost all claims to fame for doing good for others.
If our so-called leader would step back and take a long and hard look as to all the harm that he has caused throughout this country as well as the world and look into the eyes of those he has really hurt by his actions then he would never sleep again and that would suit me just fine.
I am get blasted for my answer but I tell it like it is.

I disagree. I think both issues have saturated the media. I find it interesting that Hurricane Katrina turned into "New Orleans", although the entire Gulf Coast was devasted. Some towns in MS were completely wiped off the map. But no one pays attention to MS because they are actually working to rebuild instead of sitting back and waiting for the Federal Government to do it.
There has been over $60 Billion appropriate for Hurricane Katrina alone. It's estimated the aid may go as high as $200 Billion. I hardly think that constitues as being ignored.
And when we do focus on "issues abroad", it's often because they affect as at home. Remember, we are part of the global community...

There are a lot of things happening here that the government turns a blind eye to. Why? Money. Plain and simple. The middle east has oil, what does Louisiana have? Nothing but a bunch of poor Africa-Americans. Honestly, the government couldn't careless. And to the idiots who have said that "the government has been doing everything hat they can", NO they HAVE NOT. Take a freaking trip to New Orleans and tell me that BS again. Bush was slow to act the entire situation and when the people of America are in great need, what do we do? Turn our backs to them. Just tell me, I swear to GOD tell me that we are justified in our means. Remember how towns turned these innocent people back. BS
Bush was slow to act to a natural disaster, but something as soon as Sept. 11 happened, he went HEAD ON straight to war. With no agenda, working on FALSE accusations. There is NO evidence that Saddam or anyone else was involved, all of it was complete BS. And there is already enough evidence that the government had a lot to do with Sept. 11. Why weren't any important figures in the buildings that day? Oh, important meetings you say? Oh, but the twin towers were rebuilt to withhold such attacks, the buildings are made out of steel and Steel just doesn't COLLAPSE like that. Oh, but I forgot, there is evidence that the basements were melted, ooh. BOMBS IN THE BASEMENT? One of the buildings wasn't even hit and it collapsed. The government is SUPPOSED to shoot down planes, why didn't they shoot down the freaking planes? I think that America needs to open heir eyes instead of listening to these BS stories. Obviously, America WANTED to go to war. So why would the government waste their precious time in the south? HM?

It doesn't. How much more attention and money could New Orleans possibly need? Enough money has already been thrown into that hole. If man builds a city below sea level, he is a fool. It's demise is only a matter of time. You will never beat Mother Nature.
New Orleans has gotten far too much attention at the expense of other cities and towns that were devastated along the Gulf coast. Enough is enough already.

uh FEMA screwed up with New Orleans. And once the levees broke, they couldn't do much to help stranded civilians.
Now Iraq could become a major issue here at home. Not any more because Saddam is out of power but he had the potential to be.

America is the most powerfull nation in the world. It has a reputation to keep. While it may sound ridicules to us the citizens, it makes alot of sence to the politicians runing the country. America has to show that their is no major problems in its Country and that there is much more problems outside of its borders which have to be fixed.

It's an illustration of the poverty of american society where you get private wealth and public squalor.
If the Dutch can live safely in a country below sea level why can't the americans.

Hmmm. I would suspect that since the conflict in IRAQ started in 2003 and Katrina didn't hit until 2005. Well, duh! There's your answer.
