What is the average cost of a 3/4 bedroom house in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine? Do you like living in New England, and are the taxes rates high?

New Hampshire has no taxes (no sales tax, no state income tax, and I believe no property tax but I'm not entirely positive). Vermont and Maine have taxes, but I don't know what they are.

Housing costs vary from reasonable to extravagent. The most expensive areas are near the ski resorts, where a lot of people buy vacation homes. The farther you go from the ski areas, the cheaper the houses are.

I live in Massachusetts, but I think northern New England is beautiful! My husband and I are partial to Vermont, actually, and we have a small vacation house there. Much more laid back than the Boston area, but I guess that goes without saying!
